I see a golden light
Beyond that dark horizon
Before me lies pain
Obstacles wrought in fire
Blocking me from seeing the way
Burning me when I step wrong
Thorns piercing my feet
The wind pushing me back
Rain threatens to drown me
And rocks falling hard on my shoulders
Tears fall from my bleeding eyes
My throat dry as the desert sand
I long for rest, I need an escape
But that light beckons
So strong
So enticing
Confused and tired
Weak and desperate
I pick myself up
Walking through
Enduring all.
If I can feel that golden light
And the dark horizon behind me
I can die smiling.
