Lost Voices

Noise all over

From shouts of passion
To the secrets of whispers
A gentle hush of a loving heart
Outbursts of an outgoing soul

Do you hear them? Intriguing?

The relaxing chirp of a lonely bird
The hypnotizing roar of a speeding car
That uplifting beat from the coffee shop speakers
The laughter of friends in the corner

Do you hear them? Enjoyable?

Words of the unfortunate lot
Cries of the downtrodden
Chants from the pickets
Songs of the oppressed

Can you hear them? Drowned?

The glee of promises
The illusions made by a chosen power
The yearning hearts swayed
So easily tricked, desperate to a fault

The choice silenced, the soul lost.

Duality

Does the day seem brighter than it is?
My heart feels light and filling with bliss
But deep inside the wounds have yet to heal
I almost like to keep it bleeding still.

My mind and heart still long for time past
Stretching the moment I have seen you last
But time and fortune has brought a gift
A face; a soul who caused some darkness lift.

I welcome the smile like a lucky charm.
But I embrace the tears gently with my arms.

Hinagpis

Paano nga ba ako makakausad?
Damdamin ko ay tila hiniklat
Puso ko ay lubhang nangungulila
Sa umaga'y mumulat na may luha.

Bakit ka lumisan, bakit ka tumakas?
Iniwan akong sugatan at walang lakas
Nanghihinayang sa oras na nawala
Sa panahong dapat na nangalaga.

Nagsisisi na wala sa iyong tabi
Ngayon ako'y puno ng dalamhati
Patawad sa aking mga kamalian
Patawad sa aking kahinaan.

Kung nasaan man sana'y maramdaman

Pagtangis

Seasons

Like how season changes, the world changes too. Life is inevitably the same.

Piercing Emptiness

The sun suddenly seem too dim
The moon lonelier than before
A voice as calm as a stream
Fell silent and lost forevermore.

The wind blows like winter's cold
The hearth brings no comfort
Longing for your embrace and hold
Stolen in a sharp retort.

My joy that was once so replete
Was nearly filled with painful sorrow
Without you life is not complete
Starting now to days beyond tomorrow.

Lifted

We were just talking like a few days back
Of family gossips and future plans
The very thing I feared suddenly struck
A chilling voice told me you are gone.

Time stopped and my heart ached
We were supposed to meet the next night
I held my strength for family's sake
But I feel the pain like heaven's smite.

You left so quickly like a fleeing thief
You took with you my glee and my world
My heart is with you and had surely dipped
My smile faded and left me in a curl.

I pray you hear all the words I whisper
To the winds to carry them to heaven's door
Look down from above and see your litter
Watch us grow and help us soar.

A parol is a traditional lantern used by Filipinos to celebrate Christmas. It is the symbol of the Star of Jerusalem that the three kings followed to locate the newborn Messiah.

Seasons Greetings

The time of the year when the roads are jammed and the malls are packed has come again.

The Philippines is known to celebrate the christmas season the longest. It starts the first day of the "Ber" months, which is the 1st of September. And it ends on the day of the catholic Feast of the Three Kings.

This season is a very important celebration for the Filipinos not only because the Philippines in mainly a catholic nation (and considered the largest catholic nation in its part of the world), but it is also the time when families separated by distance or other circumstance come together and reunite to celebrate and enjoy the company of relatives and friends.

Of course a Filipino celebration can not be complete without enjoying good conversation over a hearty feast. The Noche Buena has been a practice where the family sits and enjoy a feast in meeting Christmas day at the strike of 12 midnight, just like the world celebrates the coming of the new year.

And people around the country becomes tolerant and forgiving towards others more on this season. Goodwill during becomes prominent in the society evidenced by conversations imploring somebody to be patient and let a few transgressions pass in the spirit of the season.

This is basically how we celebrate Christmas and I am proud of how we Filipinos value family and good relationships with people.

To end this, I would like to extend the my greetings to all who read my humble blog.

MALIGAYANG PASKO SA INYONG LAHAT!
(Merry Christmas to all of you!)
